Power Platform provides with several functionalities, with many customizable options. But it does not compromise on the security of entities. There is a high-level certainty planned for every type of user depending on the operations required to perform. Field level security is one of the many limitations that apply to users of Power Platform.
It is a role designed at organizational level and is applicable to all data access requests such as web browser, mobile app, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Outlook. It is available by default for out of the box entities such that custom fields, and custom fields on custom entities. This expands and brings more functionality to the usage. The system administrator configures the security role from security profiles in the advanced settings.
The main attributes of field level security are mentioned as below:
- Read-only access granted to the data.
- Update: Users/teams can update the data of field.
- Create: Users/teams can create or add data to this field when working on the record.
These three are the basic privileges for the data field and on the basis of these levels the access is defined for a user or for a team.
