Power Apps Portals OR Power Pages

| Syed Muneeb

Power Pages is generally used to grant access to users who do not have tenant. The user can access to Pages from anywhere without logging into Power Platform, it accesses it through links.

There are certain benefits in creating Power Apps Portals.

  • The data I stored directly in Dataverse, there is no need to create connection to Power Apps as users have to create connections to get data through multiple domains like SharePoint, Dynamics365 & Dynamics35 Customer Service or Salesforce.
  • The user can design Portals through Power Apps Portals Studio and configurating components on the webpages.

Power Apps Portals can be created in a new Environment or an existing Environment.
If a user plans to create a portal on a new environment, then there are certain pre requisites for it such as the existence of entities, Data in the Dataverse, and starter portal templates are installed when the environment is created.
Secondly, if a user chooses to create portal on an existing environment without any sort of pre requisites, then pre requisites are installed in the environment then portal is created. This method may consume some time.

Crating a portal

After accessing your environment, you need to go to navigation pane on the left side of the home page, under Create your app, tap on Blank app. Then select Create from Blank website option.

If you choose to continue with the current environment, then you should enter the required information. If user wants to create a new environment for portals, then he should create it from the make.powerapps URL.
If portal from Blank Website is selected, then "name”,” Address” and "Language” should be filled by the user.
Users can make amendments and customizations on the portal as per the requirements.
