Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing: Create Segment

In this blog, we will learn how to create a new segment from scratch. We will see the generation and go-live of a Dynamic Segment. As Microsoft is aware of the complexity of the configuration so for starters, there are tons of templates available that can be used to get started with this feature.

Step 1:

Set-up your account with Microsoft Marketing using the trial account. And navigate to the ‘Outbound Marketing’ Area from the available list of areas in the model-driven app.

Step 2:

Click ‘New’ on the header and select ‘New Dynamic Segment’ to create a Dynamic Segment.

Step 3:

The system opens a list of template from which you should be able to select the one that fulfils your requirement. Select ‘Basic Profile Segment’ from the list.

Step 4:

The new Dynamic Segment form opens, provide a ‘Name’ to the segment. The system defaults ‘Contact’ in the. You can select deeper detail from the drop down above the ‘Contact’ field where you can define the filter criteria for the Contacts entity.

Step 5:

In the Attributes field, select the field on which the condition applies for the segment. Complete the condition by selecting the operator and then provide the comparison. For example: Select ‘City’ in the attribute from the list, operator as ‘is’ and write ‘Chicago’ in the comparison field.

You can add various segments based on need with the three options below the query block.

Step 6:

Click Save and then Go Live on the header to go live with the configuration. Check the people interacting in the Members tab.
