Benefits of Sub-grids in Model-Driven Forms
A Model-driven form has a lot of components merged as per the need of the form. Sub-grid is one of the most useful means of displaying a set of information. It makes the use of relational data which is not easily achievable with simple clicks on the screen.
View Related Records
The sub-grids can be added to any form to view the related records. If a record is associated with multiple other records, then there is no better way than having sub-grids to view them! Below is a screenshot defining the view of a sub-grid that can have different columns, so the information is understandable at one glance.
Filter Records
The sub-grids is not just about visualizing data but also being able to filter it according to the requirement. There could be a list of records showing, but if particular data is needed, you can apply filters to the column headers, and it would display the results then and there! No hassle of any additional steps.
Export Records for Offline Reporting
One of the best things about sub-grids is the ability to export the list of records using the Export button. This is an out-of-box functionality provided by Power Platform, that has a big impact on business use. Its user friendly in a way that it allows the user to do offline reporting using the same records.
You can have custom templates to get the data using those templates, the templates can be imported on a user basis or on organization bases, that are usable organization-wide.
